Victuallers pantomimes always seem to have some sort of performance innovation involved. previous ideas have been, making the audience row to the last scene, splitting the audience into goodies and baddies, having two level staging or a full size train that comes in on the finale.
Here is where we can put ideas of novelties to go with this script.
+ Scenery
Have a house in perspective to the left and some hills to the right. They are all done in a fuzzy felt style and we add and subtract things to this backdrop to make each scene.
+ "Wiki" and audience participation
Some of the scenes will be scenes that are "wiki pages" in the performance. This could lead to audience voting for ending of their choice, eg 1) wedding 2) song 3) sad ending 4) to be continued style ending. Perhaps this could happen at interval or during scene changes. This shouldn't be rigged but be last 5 mins of show and could be pre rehearsed. Other option is choosing who marries whom.
Have masks on the seats and have audience become 'extras' or Scenery at different scenes, eg Munchkins or Corn
+ Oz and Aus
OZ could be Australia, or at least put in some Australian characters.
Was wondering if you wanted any real footage of Sydney to do films n stuff. (LP) This is a good idea …. if we can work out what we want then we could have Lyd saying "Well i'll just wiz off to Oz" Film … wow that was clever! If we can't get the idea or Lyd to do it then we could at least get film say of opera house so we could put our character in front of it ..RB
We could definitely have the emerald city looking opera house-ish. - maybe with some XXXX adverts etc
+ Songs
How about using 'mash ups, cut ups, bootlegs ' (Wikipedia Article - consists of the combination of the music from one song with the a cappella from another. Typically, the music and vocals belong to completely different genres)
Use the song lyrics as the structure of the story, like a musical.
+ Reality TV
An idea linked with topical stories - use reality TV style throughout performance. have people voted in and out at points in show, make them do audition in front of audience, audience members can audition, planted audience members and voting should be rigged probably unless cast in superb at ad lib.
In between we could have wicked witch of the west and sidekick talking (explaining the plot)
Could add lots of references to reality TV shows that have 'tasks' such as finding a red shoe, obstacle courses with witches.

In the scene decription of scene 1.5 someone mentioned The Yellow Submarine, lets go Pop Art and have everything big n bold with big black outlines. Could look good. We can even convert pictures of village to this style I think using computers….Tess is good at this. …RB

Because of our recent brush with copyright law, any reference to Harry Potter should be bleeped out. As everyone will be saying it a lot, sometimes the bleep wont happen, so then the miscreant will have to pay a fine to the JK Rowling fund. Yes REALLY So see a bee … theres a Dumbledore …. Oh no … What are the rules? … Its a pound …So The Wizard becomes Big Brother, the Wicked Witch, Or Glinda the Fairy?
